Gameplay
help-circleWhat are Data Points (DP)?
Data Points (DP) are the research currency in Star Rupture. You earn them by analyzing items at the Research Station or exporting items to corporations via the Launch Pad. DP is used to unlock new technologies and recipes in the Tech Tree.
help-circleHow do I get more Data Points?
There are two main ways: 1) Use the Research Station to analyze items for DP, and 2) Export items to corporations via the Launch Pad. Different corporations pay more for different items - check their preferences for bonus DP.
help-circleWhat are corporations and how do they work?
Corporations are organizations that buy your exported items. Each corporation has preferred items they pay bonus DP for. Building reputation with corporations unlocks exclusive blueprints and better bonuses. Use our DP Calculator to find the best items to export.
help-circleHow does the Tech Tree work?
The Tech Tree contains all unlockable technologies. Each technology costs DP and may require prerequisites. Unlocking technologies gives you access to new buildings, items, and recipes. Plan your progression path based on your playstyle.
help-circleWhat happens when I die?
When you die, you drop your inventory and respawn at your bed or starting location. You can recover your items by returning to where you died. In multiplayer, teammates can revive you before you fully die.
Base Building
help-circleHow do I start building a base?
Start by crafting a Workbench, then build basic walls and a roof for shelter. Place a bed to set your respawn point. Gradually expand with storage, production buildings, and defenses as you unlock more technologies.
help-circleHow do I power my base?
Early game, use Bio Generators that burn organic materials. Later, build Solar Panels for free daytime power (use batteries for night), Power Generators for consistent output, or Geothermal Plants on volcanic vents for massive power.
help-circleHow do I defend my base from creatures?
Build walls around your base, upgrade to metal walls when possible. Place Defense Turrets at chokepoints with overlapping coverage. Keep turrets stocked with ammo. Late game, Shield Generators provide excellent protection.
help-circleHow do I automate production?
Unlock Automation Basics in the Tech Tree. Build Assemblers and connect them with Conveyor Belts. Use Splitters to route items. Connect storage containers to input materials automatically. Power everything with generators.
Survival
help-circleHow do I survive the first night?
Build a basic shelter with walls and a roof before dark. Craft a light source. Stalkers are more aggressive at night, so stay inside or near light. Stock up on food and water during the day.
help-circleHow do I deal with hostile creatures?
Craft weapons as soon as possible. Use ranged weapons to keep distance from melee creatures. Build walls around your base. At night, stay in lit areas - many creatures avoid light. Check our Creatures guide for specific strategies.
help-circleHow do I explore dangerous biomes?
Prepare appropriate gear: Gas Mask for toxic areas, Heat Suit for volcanic zones, cold protection for mountains. Bring plenty of supplies, mark your path, and always have an escape plan. Scan for threats with the Resource Scanner.
